Cathay Store

Cathay’s first brick-and-mortar store opening represents a landmark for the company–and a bonus for our neighbourhood. We’re not surprised Cathay chose Taikoo Place and Cityplaza as the site for this launch. We couldn’t imagine a more perfect location for a shop specialising in a curated selection of travel, lifestyle and exclusive Cathay products! Shopping at the Cathay Store will be a unique multi-channel experience – you can pay using Asia Miles or cash, get info on products by scanning QR codes, and pick up goods in-store or have them delivered home. Best of all, you’ll earn miles with every purchase, up to 1 mile for every 4 HKD, with an additional one mile for every HK$2 spent when using a Standard Chartered Cathay Mastercard. Even if we didn’t crave the merch and the travel perks, we’d head to the store for its sleek, airport design vibes – it’s like visiting a business class lounge on your lunch break.

OMUSUBI

In ancient Japan, people formed Omusubi into a triangular mountain-like shape out of respect to nature and for the mountain god’s blessings. Today, OMUSUBI has brought the Omusubi to the next level, making the traditional food more portable and tasty. OMUSUBI uses only the finest Japanese rice from Japan, pairing with high quality ingredients, presenting a simple and heartwarming satisfaction to customers. The surface of Omusubi is lightly covered with salt, which not only keeps the rice fresh, but also enhances the aroma. As a sister brand of hana-musubi, OMUSUBI is set to bring another delightful grab-and-go option to the Taikoo Place neighbourhood. Mutsumiya

In Japanese Mutsumiya means “House of 6 Flavors”, and that’s exactly what you get at this well-known ramen chain that’s recently opened a branch in Taikoo Shing. Choose from a menu of 6 distinctively different broth flavours – soy sauce or dashi, salty or spicy, miso or lemon-fish. It’s just the ticket for these chilly days of winter.

Peko Peko Eatery

This recently-opened Quarry Bay yoshoku spot is getting top marks on the review sites, and it’s no wonder. The Japanese-Western fusion restaurant is great value-for-money dining, with a fresh and extensive lunch menu, a lovely selection of afternoon tea cakes, and a dinner menu with oodles of interesting noodles (the scallop cream pasta gets a big thumbs up from the online crowd, as does the Uni Charcoal Udon).

FIGS Bistro Mediterranean and Apero Terrace Bar

Looking for a new place for those after work drink meetups? Look no further. FIGS boasts a huge terrace space that’s comfortable and congenial, plus a pan-Mediterranean menu of tasty bites (think: tapas and antipasto) to make happy hour even more so. And if drinks morph into dinner, no problem. Figs has an ample and scrumptious menu of mains on the offer, from pastas to Iberico pork, plus a tempting Chef’s Tasting Menu that won’t break the bank.

Métier Minus – Post-loved Luxury Fashion Charity Pop-up by Freshfields

Mark your calendars! This is a special opportunity to add some gorgeous designer clothing – think all the big designer labels – to your wardrobe, while supporting sustainability and positive community energy. With support from Taikoo Place, Jeeves, and OnTheList, Freshfields will be presenting a two-day post-loved luxury fashion charity sale stocked with a curated collection of over 300 must-have pieces. Proceeds will go to Green Ladies, a local social enterprise that aims to achieve environmental and social change through fashion reuse, as well as to the St. James’ Settlement. The pop-up sale is open to Taikoo Place tenants only – get there early!

Books For Love Charity Sale Book Collection Month

Books For Love is a way to share the joy of reading in a green and affordable way. This is the month to gather up all those books that have been piling up around the house, and donate them to this Swire-sponsored second hand charity sale. Collection boxes will be conveniently placed at 8 locations around Taikoo Place, and there are special boxes set aside for children’s books too. As usual, the books will be sorted and put on sale for $10 each, with all proceeds earmarked for the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA) and the Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS).

CITYPLAZA CNY Celebrates Year of the Rabbit with MIFFY

What better way to celebrate the coming of the Year of the Rabbit than with everyone’s favourite bunny, Miffy? This year Cityplaza has turned up the cuteness level to max with a mall display that transforms Atrium and Centre Bridge into a secret Miffy garden. They’ve also created six CNY-themed photo spots where fans can take Instagrammable selfies with the famous Dutch bunny herself. Make sure you do a stroll through the Miffy Spring Blossom tunnel, created in the shape of giant rabbit ears, and visit the Miffy pop-up store for more Rabbit ear – or rather, Year – goodies. Don’t forget to bring home special edition Miffy lai see packet set and other gifts with designated spending amount in the mall!

Chickpea Canteen

Now that they’ve finally settled into Quarry Bay, this Lebanese/Middle Eastern spot is spicing the neighbourhood up with some delicious deals. They’re offering a 10% discount on lunch or dinner canteen meal boxes. It’s easy to order online, and you can enjoy any selection from their rotating daily menu of salads, pita pockets, hummus bowls, and vegetarian-friendly fresh specials.
