Swire Properties brings the global gastronomic delights to Taikoo Place in support of Hong Kong’s homegrown food culture
Back by popular demand, Swire Properties and local social enterprise Honestly Green, are happy to announce the return of Tong Chong Street Market to Taikoo Place this April. Come and enjoy authentic street food from around the world, made with locally sourced ingredients and exclusively made for Tong Chong Street Market visitors. The gastronomic feast this season promises to be even better with a strong focus on local vendors, exciting and engaging experiences and a slew of new passionate local producers.
Kicking off on Earth Day, 22 April, marketgoers are not only encouraged to enjoy the world class fare, but to also help promote zero-waste and sustainability through initiatives like bringing their own containers and bags.
The market will be held on 22-23 April, and 29-30 April, and act as a precursor to further initiatives taking place throughout the year. Following the theme of ‘Let Your Tastebuds Travel’, marketgoers will have the choice of over 40 vendors who will be serving delicacies from around the world. Some of the new vendors include Okra, a popular Japanese kitchen known for their delicate flavours, Kitute’s Brazil, representing the most authentic Brazilian fare, such as Coxinha (Brazilian Chicken Croquettes) and Brazilian Cheese balls, The Meepok Club, serving Singapore classic noodles alongside their homemade signature chili sauce, and Hui Kee, providing Hong Kong-style classic fish balls using certified sustainable fish.
“Our aim is to showcase Hong Kong as a world-class epicurean destination,” said Babby Fung, Head of Office Marketing, Swire Properties. “It’s not only about sourcing homegrown produce, but also the sustainable creation of world-class cuisine in Hong Kong. This season, we want to convey a dining philosophy of ‘think globally, eat locally’ through diversified vendors.”
From July to October, Taikoo Place will then offer weekday office workers the opportunity to purchase from their mobile farmers’ truck stationed on Tong Chong Street and outside One Island East. This include produce from local farmers in Hong Kong, as well as healthy lunch options.
Tong Chong Street Market will return in November for the autumn season, and serve the community until February 2018. A number of themed food festivals will take place and will be revealed at a later date. Each weekend will feature a wide range of vendors and producers selling meat, preserves, baked goods and organic vegetables and fruits grown by certified local farmers, as well as authentic exotic dishes by the new and returning culinary masters.
