ArtisTree Selects: Enchanted Forest

ArtisTree proudly presents ArtisTree Selects: Enchanted Forest, the first exhibition of internationally acclaimed Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos in Hong Kong.

Two characteristically monumental textile art installations are created for ArtisTree and Two Taikoo Place, which are in direct response to the city and the community. Both venues will be transformed by Vasconcelos’ powerful creative energy, with the site-specific works, individually named Enchanted Forest and Valkyrie Seondeok, set to be a highlight in Swire Properties Arts Month 2024.

About Joana Vasconcelos
Born in 1971, Joana Vasconcelos is a Portuguese visual artist with a career spanning over 30 years and a huge variety of media. Recognised for her monumental sculptures and immersive installations, she decontextualises everyday objects and updates the arts and crafts concept for the 21st century, establishing a dialogue between the private sphere and public space, popular heritage and high culture.

International acclaim arrived in 2005 at the first Venice Biennale curated by women, where Joana Vasconcelos has returned seven times to date. Her latest work in Waddesdon Manor came second on the list of “Best Art and Architecture of 2023” of The Guardian; considering it as“the first wholeheartedly joyful artistic masterpiece of the 21st century.

The recipient of more than 30 awards, in 2009, Joana Vasconcelos received the rank of Commander of the Order of Infante D. Henrique by the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic and she became an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture in 2022.
