"PROJECT AFTER 6: THE PITCH" starring 40 office workers music groups and celebrities to rock the stage at ArtisTree in July 2019

26 Jun 2019

Taikoo Place is committed to engaging the community through art and cultural activities. The latest programme PROJECT AFTER 6: THE PITCH relives the music theme of the previous years and called for applications from all office workers in town to unleash their musical talent on a professional stage. A total of 40 passionate musical teams or individuals have been shortlisted from over a hundred groups of office professionals with a music dream. They are now fully prepared to storm the stage at ArtisTree, where eight free lunchtime concerts will be held from 4 July to 15 July, instilling positivity in the audiences. Come and enjoy this midday “music feast” for an energy boost!

The auditions for PROJECT AFTER 6: THE PITCH was intense! Participants were given one minute to showcase their talent and impress the celebrity judges, artist Mischa Ip and music producer Kimme Kwong, in a bid to get their music heard on a bigger stage. The participants, who hailed from all walks of life such as physical training, fire services, legal, media, investment banking, academia and social work among others, amazed the judges with their stunning performances spanning a kaleidoscope of genres, including a series of original songs. Some even formed new teams after the programme last year, in one case staging a trail-blazing trio with erhu, double bass and electric guitar, and taking their performance to new heights and exciting the judges. After a rigorous selection process, 40 groups emerged as the crème de la crème.

On 22 June, the selected musicians participated in a briefing and musicians’ masterclass hosted by renowned music producer Edward Chan and rising pop-music producer Ariel Lai, where celebrity singers Eman Lam and Mischa Ip also shared their experience with tips on song-writing and performance. New music ideas were sparked among the musicians as they tried re-arranging a piece of music in groups and performed their creations. All participants returned home highly enthused with insights and inspiration on song arrangements, singing techniques and performance styles, bringing the quality of their music performance to the next level!

The musicians are now in full swing to prepare for the lunchtime concerts at ArtisTree, a 7,000 sq ft multi-purpose venue with professional stage lighting and audio-visual technologies, where they will perform alongside celebrity singers including Jason Chan, Eman Lam, RubberBand, Lil’ Ashes, Mischa Ip and Cath Wong. The 10 most outstanding groups selected by the judges also entered the Finale Concert on 18 July, where the musicians will compete for the throne with fellow passionate performers, with the chance to take to an even bigger stage.

PROJECT AFTER 6: THE PITCH – a series of eight free lunchtime concerts – will be held from 4 July to 15 July (Mon to Fri) from 12:30pm to 2:00pm at ArtisTree, Taikoo Place. Who says lunch breaks are always the same? Come savour the scrumptious refreshments and drinks from Cookie DPT, Invisible Kitchen and Urban Bakery which are exclusively served at the lunchtime concerts.
