Tackle your to-do list in Quarry Bay: Part 2

<
Want to take a break from your desk with a much-deserved beauty treatment, need a dose of traditional Chinese medicine, or desperate for a last minute run to the grocery store? We have your sources for the Taikoo Place neighbourhood, right here.

1. For a quick beauty pick-me-up

This neighbourhood is full of small shops and salons that are great for a quick beauty boost. Located at Manly Plaza, June Beauty (Shop 51; Tel: 9793 5948) offers a variety of manicure and pedicure services. Likewise, Nail Me – which has several branches across Hong Kong, this one near Tai Koo Station – will professionally mend that pesky chipped nail. Meanwhile, US beauty brand and brow specialist Benefit Cosmetics’ Benefit: Brows-A-Go-Go shop provides a variety of tweezing and waxing services – though you will also find the brand’s much-loved products for sale here, too.

2. When it’s time for a proper pampering session

For something more substantial than an in-and-out beauty session, check out services from these pros. Get yourself a new ’do at Rêve Hair & Spa, a stylish joint that uses Kérastase, L'Oréal and Aveda products. La Vie Hair and Beauty is staffed with expert hair consultants, offering hair and scalp treatments. There are also hair and styling products available.

Gentlemen can pop into Canton Barber, a barber shop, tailor and eyewear store all in one. Sit down to a haircut, or a styling session. There’s also The Barber Shop: decked out like an old-fashioned barber’s of yesteryear, it offers men’s haircuts in a stylish setting.

3. For check-ups or a health boost

With easily accessible locations, these healthcare providers are convenient to visit on a busy workday. Get those nagging discomforts sorted out at NYMG Chiropractor and Physiotherapy, a clinic that can help with chronic pains and sports injuries. Quality HealthCare has two outposts in Quarry Bay: a Medical Centre is staffed with GPs, while a Physiotherapy Centre offers a range of wellness services, including physiotherapy, health screenings, vaccinations as well as traditional Chinese medicine.

Speaking of Chinese medicine, Yang Zheng Tang is a traditional Chinese medicine clinic staffed with a qualified practitioner. You can arrange appointments, and – of course – get your Chinese medicine inside the shop. Mrs Leung Chi Chim Chinese Medicine Polyclinic is staffed with qualified practitioners. It is affiliated with Pok Oi Hospital, which provides affordable traditional Chinese medicine services to the general public.

Many of us tend to put off visits to the dentist, but with a location right inside Taikoo Place, Dr Steven Chung Dental Centre makes things a little bit easier. The dental surgery has various dental services – think orthodontics, wisdom tooth extraction and the like.

4. To stock up on specialty goods

Quarry Bay has plenty of specialty grocery stores, for whatever you may be in search for. Specialising in organic and natural goods, O’Farm boasts a sizeable collection of healthy snacks, vegetarian ingredients, supplements and green home products. Organic Plus, renowned for its natural and eco-friendly offerings, has everything from food, cooking ingredients, personal care products, supplements to fair trade goods. Its stock also includes gluten-free, non-GMO, dairy free, non-hydrogenated oils and chemical-free household products.

For imported snacks and ingredients, check out 759 Store, a popular chain that sells chiefly Japanese products at wallet-friendly prices. Similarly, there’s also Uma Uma Mini Japanese Foods Store, which has an abundance of Japanese snacks, drinks and condiments. Finally, Lucky 21 Trading Co., hidden inside the “Monster Building” complex, supplies Indian, Pakistani and Nepalese products ranging from fresh vegetables and fruits to spices, oils and other grocery items.
