TONG CHONG STREET MARKET

Pop-up Farmers' Stall in Taikoo Place

<

By Arthur Tam

Taikoo Place is here to expand your culinary horizons with the Tong Chong Street Market Pop-up Farmers’ Stall. From Monday to Friday during 25 July to 29 September, noon to 6pm, there is going to be easy access to seasonal, locally-sourced, organic, delicious food. Located just outside Dorset House, there will be a stall selling seasonal produce by local farmers. And exclusively on 15, 22 and 29 August, the stall will feature healthy dishes by three of Hong Kong’s emerging star chefs – Gabriel Choy, Hilda Leung and Doris Wong. If you were thinking about increasing your veggie intake, now would be a good time. Here is everything you need to know about the event.

MEET THE CHEFS:

Gabriel Choy
This young, handsome chef is made of tough stuff. He contended with Hell’s Kitchen celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay to become the champion of The Gordon Ramsay Scholar competition back in 2005. He has heaps of culinary experience, working at restaurants in London including Ramsay’s Pétrus and Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck. Recently, Choy has been creating a buzz with guest appearances on TV cooking shows.

Hilda Leung
This beauty queen turned celebrity chef is a big advocate for clean and sustainable living. Since earning her place as Hong Kong’s representative in the Disciples Escoffier Young Talent contest, Lam has been busy building her media presence by hosting cooking videos on ViuTV. She's also a chef and ambassador for Green Common, a concept store selling plant-based products that are both sustainable and socially responsible.

Doris Wong
A vegetarian for 28 years, Wong is a guru on healthy eating. She has written a library’s worth of columns on health-conscious diets for a variety of publications and hosts cooking tutorials on her YouTube channel Mimi Veggie. In 2015, she was awarded the title of Green Star Ambassador by Hong Kong marketing company Roadshow for her commitment to environmental protection.
