Meet PROJECT AFTER 6 buskers: Urban RnB group Dusty Bottle and the September line-up

What makes your music unique?
Yuki: I listen to and play a lot of pop songs but my favourite music genre is actually musical. When I was younger, I tried to imitate Lea Salonga’s singing. I probably have subconsciously used this voice for various types of music.

What drew you to PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
Jonathan: I believe music brings peace among people, forming bridges for people to connect as they share their stories/perspectives. I write my own music and hope that I can create moments of peace by sharing it.

What makes your band unique?
Cracklebox: Slick and slinky baselines all the way from Chicago give us our groove. A Picasso of the piano paints a romantic, Spanish picture. The melodic winds of England bring us our flame-fingered guitarist. Add our singer's penchant for the stagecraft, and place it all above the French flair of a gale-force drummer – and you have something pretty unique.

What drew you to participate in the PROJECT AFTER 6 Busking programme?
Gigi: Working full time in bank, it is rare and precious for your company to be sponsoring a music event and encouraging colleagues to participate during weekdays. So i’m here to support my company.

What do you hope to achieve through PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
Triple Shrimp: Jamming with professional artists may give us more insight into how they approach songs. We hope to inspire more people to play music and enjoy busking culture.

What do you hope to achieve through PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
WarmPapa: We disbanded as we’ve each been focused on work and family, and now we’re all fathers. This year we got together again to form WarmPapa to cover songs of different styles. This will be our first performance after regrouping.

What drew you to PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
Kyle: I’ve played piano and guitar and sung since middle school. Because of work, it seems music is getting away from me. I think Project After 6 is an opportunity to pick up music again.

What makes your music unique?
Zoe: I have been performing with local singers (such as Eason Chan, Sammi Cheng, at17 and GEM) over the past year as a backing vocalist in huge venues like the Hong Kong Coliseum. Instead of singing, I would rather say I perform. I guess that’s what makes my act different.

What do you hope to achieve through PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
Lee Chun-yip: I hope to get to know more fellow musicians and discover more possibilities for my music career.

What do you hope to achieve through PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
TanK: Gain more stage experience and learn more from other buskers.

What do you hope to achieve through PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
Zwing: Get to know more musician with complementary styles and skills, to maybe form a duo or trio. 

What makes your music unique? 
Queenie: Through music, I share my feelings on interesting happenings in my daily life with everyone. I hope it resonates with listeners and they find comfort in my songs.

What do you hope to achieve through PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
Michael: Since I started busking in 2011, I made many friends from different countries and cultures. Through Project After 6: Busking, I hope I can create another special story in my life while finding a new audience.

What do you hope to achieve through PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
Terry: I want to use this opportunity to gain knowledge of the music industry and learn how to establish myself and my music properly. I also have a dream of performing outside Hong Kong on tour.

What makes your band unique?
Planetblue: The two of us are very different people. We look and sound very different, we like different genres. And yet when we perform together, we have this chemistry that allows us to create a new kind of sound.

What do you hope to achieve through PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
AV Kids: We did this last year and it was a lot of fun, so we thought we would try again and perhaps amp things up even more. You’ll have to stay for our final song. It’s going to be really intense.

What drew you to PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
Ankie: Back in university, I used to join singing contests, cover songs, go busking and perform with my roommate. Life got busier after I started my first job. Thanks to Project After 6, I’m restarting this hobby!

What do you hope to achieve through PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
Coco and Caleb: We want mainstream producers to spot our talent, and for people to be touched and encouraged by our songs.

What drew you to PROJECT AFTER 6: Busking?
Sean: Introduce the awesome instrument to Hkers and meet fellow buskers and jam together to have fun.

What drew you to participate in the PROJECT AFTER 6 Busking programme?
Gigi: It’s my dream to share the same stage with talented singer-song writers in HK. This project makes my dream comes true!

What makes your band unique?
O'blue Acappella: We are an all-male a cappella group with more than 10 years of singing together. We’ve won several international choral competitions in Germany, US, Wales, Japan and China.
