Must-Sees at “THE WORLD OF TINTIN”

28 Nov 2017
By Siobhan Brewood-Wyatt

The HOCA Foundation, in collaboration with The Hergé Museum, has brought the landmark show the THE WORLD OF TINTIN to the new ArtisTree. Thousands of Tintin fans and comic lovers have already visited to celebrate the much-loved boy-reporter. There’s plenty to see – here’s what you can’t miss. See you there!

Tintin’s apartment

To mark the exhibition, a specially commissioned model replica of Tintin’s apartment has been created, complete with miniatures of his famed typewriter collection. Tintin eventually moves into Marlinspike Hall with Captain Haddock, but lives in the small apartment with Snowy in earlier albums in the series.

A tale of friendship
Most of the albums in The Adventures of Tintin focus on Tintin’s heroic endeavours. The exception is the much-loved Tintin in Tibet, which is currently on show at the exhibition. The comic sees Tintin journey to Tibet to search for his friend Chang, making this album about friendship and loyalty rather unique.

Chicago parade diorama
In Tintin in America, Tintin journeys to Chicago where he saves the city from a mob of gangsters and a parade is held in his honour. Don’t miss the display diorama of this famous scene, which cleverly highlights Hergé’s distinctive use of perspective and creative skill.

Mad about Tintin? Don’t miss the exhibition’s onsite pop-up shop

Pop-up shop(ping)
Mad about Tintin or know someone who is? Make sure you head to the onsite pop-up shop at the new ArtisTree (there are also two more in Cityplaza and Central). We love the colourful postcards as mementos of the show – it’s also a perfect chance to check off your Christmas shopping list!

Signature Tintin cars
Another can’t-miss is a model depiction of a colourful street scene, complete with signature Tintin cars, popular from the era. Designed using renderings from actual automobiles, the scene offers a 3D glimpse into Hergé’s creative world.

Hergé’s first masterpiece
The Blue Lotus album (on display at the exhibition), has been argued by many to be Herge’s “first masterpiece”. Lauded for its accuracy, precision and move away from Hergé’s more right-wing stance, the album remains a favourite of many fans.
