Swire Properties’ Taikoo Place Presents Third Season of Tong Chong Street Market

21 Sep 2016

An evolving food and lifestyle destination returns with more diversified vendors and latest earth-conscious products

Returning in September for its third season, Tong Chong Street Market co-presented by Swire Properties and the emerging social enterprise Honestly Green will bring a wide range of signature street food featuring everything savory encompassing hand-roasted, slow-cooked dishes, exotic Japanese, Spanish, as well as Vietnamese cuisines, inviting market goers to further explore the integration of sustainability into daily lives.

“Tong Chong Street Market continues to serve as the platform for idea exchange between market goers, epicureans, emerging entrepreneurs and local farmers,” said Babby Fung, Head of Office Marketing, Swire Properties. “In this season, we look forward to seeing our visitors learn to lead a waste-less life, and extend the good practices to daily aspects.”

A series of workshops will be presented this season to cover topics including organic farming with recycled materials, cooking with leftover ingredients, and allergy-free recipes. Workshop hosts include Honestly Green, young entrepreneurs from Social Gastronomy of Twins Kitchen, NutriAlley, Vegelink and popular online eco-living platform Green Queen.  Each workshop will cost HK$50 per person and registration will be available on Taikoo Place website (www.taikooplace.com). More details to be announced in early October.

Switching from home-growing tips, this season’s Sustainability Booth will offer biodegradable utensils and earth-conscious products including stainless steel straws from Taiwan, washable and reusable eco-wrap, BPA-free cups, edible spoons and bowls imported from India.  Market goers can learn to start using earth-conscious utensils.

Available every Sunday from 25 September through 18 December, each market will feature 40 stalls selling meat, preserves, baked goods, fresh produce grown by certified local organic farmers, as well as exclusive signature dishes by the new and returning culinary masters. The next season will return in Spring 2017. For more information and vendor list, please visit: www.tongchongstreetmarket.com.
